First Friday

First Friday
Last Friday I had the pleasure to finally enjoy the local First Friday events. Self- guided, free walk around different galleries in Downtown Raleigh was really fun, I had seen some amazing pieces and some, that well- didn’t “speak” to me too much.
There was music, food, drinks. And lots of people!
And you know what- I am such a people watcher- sometimes it is more interesting to me, how someone behaves, how talkes, moves, smiles, laughs, etc., than that piece of art I am standing in front of! Is it weird?
Well, anyway, after visiting Artspace and Visual Art Exchange, we went to photographic gallery: Points of View.
And there, at POV was an exhibition of Aspen Hochhalter: “The Reclamation of Silver Series“. Images presented there were printed on dual layered translucent silk. Because of the softness and lightness of the fabric- every movement in that specific room of gallery made all images move slightly, wave softly, creating the impression of these nature photographs bringing the nature back to life. Really amazing look and feel.
I think this was my favorite work seen during this First Friday.
I will definitely be at POV Gallery next month. This is when my friend, J.P. Corr III is going to present his Gilded Nudes Series- it’s very exciting!
