Choices! Can You Help With Mine?

By any means I am not graphic designer and never really had any training in this area. And I understand, that- well, my little creations can be sometimes really mediocre or worse.

But today I am looking at deadline and need your help, please.

For photographing quilt exhibition local art magazine (which is going to use some of my photos for publication), offered me an advertising spot.  Deadline to submit design for the ad is almost here.
And here I am trying to create something, that will look somehow good (hopefully). I had narrowed down my choices to two designs, which you can see below.

And- I would like to as big big favor, please!
Could you share your opinion, which ad is more attractive, which brings more attention, which better represents my work?
Any suggestions you have, that may improve any of them- greatly appreciated!

So!
First:

ad no 1

Second:

artsee- www.joannasfoto.com

ad no 2

  4. I'm just confirming my initial thought... My choice is totally #1. I honestly wouldn't change the font or anything... Now that I can see it in a larger size, I likey!!! Good job!

    • Thank you, Celina! looks like 2nd design is on very lost position. But that's fine. Makes it much easier to decide!

  6. Joanna, what pixel size will the ad display at or will it be the size shown? When the design is reduced to display size, it could really make a difference in your choice, and also in the readability of the font. They both look lovely in the size you show here.

    • Karen, thank you for your comment. You made great point. The ad is going to be slightly smaller, than shown here on the blog. I think I am going to print a sample in original size, to see how this layout comes out within the magazine's page size. Thank you!

  7. So- after printing it with the specific proportions I only enlarged the top text one point. Both sizes were visible, but seems, that extra point made it clearer. Karen, thank you- your suggestion was great and very helpful!

  8. Joanna, I vote for the first one as well. Seems more like your work to me. Congrats and good luck with it! Peace, Judi

  9. Definitely, definitely the first one. It is clean, elegant & beautiful! The only suggestion I would is for the first 3 lines. I might make the type a teeny bit smaller, or slide them a teeny-tiny bit to the left. Like a 1-2 point change. To me, it feels like they crowd against the flower a little bit, and would feel better more centered in the space to the left of the flower. Does that make sense? :) I know this is for the ad, but you could also print them out brochure size or smaller (bookmark size) and they would make lovely hand-outs at shows, too!
