Day that changed my life… Day at the shelter for animals…
Throughout my childhood I have been lucky enough to be close to nature and have many animals in my life. My parents owned small farm and they always kept cows, pigs or chickens, but we also always had at least one dog and at least one cat. The small town I grew up in was the perfect place for pets- safe and wide open to allow them for a lot of pleasure and freedom.
I have been always the one in love with dogs. There were couple of them my parents or their neighbors owned when I was growing up which became my biggest friends. I appreciate so much now that I was able to have happy and free animals around me. The experience allowed me to realize how much they appreciate our friendship and how much of theirs they offer when only given chance to.

Having such a good and positive memories from times when my best friend was my dog it was really hard to prepare for the trip I decided to take to the local shelter for homeless dogs and cats.
This local place is home to over 400 dogs and few dozens of cats. Any animal which is found to be homeless or is becoming homeless due to their owners change of mind will find shelter here, friendly staff to care for them, feed them and keep an eye on their health.

The most touching and emotional for me was the hopeful look I got when visiting the shelter. Each day brings chance for these animals for better home with loving family.

I have heard stories about some of the animals. Many not too happy. Stories about being abandoned. Stories of owners who were counting only on fun and did not realize that dog or car has their own needs and needs certain commitments from the owners. And in some cases the fact that owners gave up their pet into hands of very caring staff at the shelter.

It was hard leaving the place without a new companion. I have never been inside place like this and looking at those sweet animals with their sad and hoping eyes was not easy to go through. Heartbreaking experience… It was a lesson for me of responsibility for other creatures and appreciation for those animals I grew up with and got to enjoy their friendship and could offer back mine as well as care and dedication.
When I was leaving just before I have reached the gate- there was one more spot I have stopped at for a moment. It was symbolical mini graveyard, with two graves of dogs. One of them, Dżok, has been the symbol of how faithful the four legged friend can be. After his owner tragically died near big intersection the dog has been waiting at the spot for his owner to return…

This post was created as a result of participation in special project, Magicis Images.

Enjoying warmth of spring sun – new photograph
Over the weekend my hubby and I decided to take a quick trip out of town. Just for some sightseeing of the area. And since the weather turned out to be just perfect: warm and almost windless- we have had so much fun!
Aside from sightseeing the area I was also set on finding signs to prove that spring is really here to stay!
And below photograph is my proof!
Warmth of spring sun is available via Etsy!
While waiting for spring to come
Over past weekend I have been trying to avoid noises coming from flat downstairs (some serious rebuilding, sounded like walls are coming down, etc…). My way of doing so was to leave my place and this way I enjoy nice long walk around the old town.
I have looked for some last signs of winter and first signs of spring, stopped by at the big bookstore in Krakow’s Main Square area, just few minutes before Edyta Górniak had an interview there. She’s the only Polish singer who got second place in Eurovision festival! There was no other artist to get higher than that!
And at the end I have also purchased some tulips from the flower stands in front of the St. Mary’s Church.
Since I haven’t found too many signs of spring, I have decided to do my own spring! And now beautiful tulips are decorating my kitchen!
Not only of course. I wouldn’t be myself if I hadn’t organize photo session for them!
Here below is one of the images available as print via my shop on Etsy.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Fine art photographic prints- where to go to find them?
Everyone has to start somewhere. Etsy was my way of starting. How it happened?
I have been photographing nature and working on editing photos for some time. And majority of those pictures was landing in the drawer. Some friends saw some of my work, but nothing too serious. Until one of the friend suggested I should consider showing it to wider audience, that I should do something more.
That was back in 2007. And in the following year I have decided that perhaps Etsy is one of the ways I can get my work out there, let others see it and allow for prints to be purchased. And so this is the very short version of the story, which of course has not ended yet!
Since starting up the shop I have been participating in many events where I had a chance to promote my work. Etsy has been always nice addition to my routine. It’s also place where I am able to network with amazing and very talented people, find inspiration, discover amazing handmade products.
In my Etsy shop you will find several categories you can search by. There is one with nature photography and close ups, there are industrial abstractions or animal kingdom. All prints are listed in certain preset sizes, although options for customizing the size is always available. It is enough to send me a message and I am willing to work with special requests or personalization of your order.
Please accept my invitation to visit my shop with prints on Etsy!
Fine art photographic prints- where to go to find them?

You see me posting some of my photographs here, sometimes I include slide show other times images are embedded into the text.
But what if you would like to come back to them later? Look some more, browse through, maybe find something you haven’t seen yet? And perhaps you are looking to purchase it and be able to use it for your home or workplace decor?
There is site which contains majority of my work. And it’s under the address of www.JoannaKapicaPhotography.com.
What are you going to find there?
By saying that you will find most of my work I mean not only the most recognizable nature or landscape fine art pieces. The galleries are split into three sections: Fine Art, Portraits and Events.
Fine Art
This section contains all of the most recognizable photographs taken by me, which also at some point were showing here on the blog or you may have seen my sharing on twitter or facebook. Inside this gallery you will also see smaller ones, presenting photographs organizes by certain theme. And there are shots taken back in 2009 and my Project 365 period, some recent landscapes from Krakow and some from my time in Raleigh, my Animal Kingdom mini-series and of course lots and lots of nature inspired photographs. You will notice that each gallery offers price list and size selection you can choose from. Of course sometimes standard sizes are not the solution, in that case simply send me a message via contact form and we can together work on the size, that fits your unique needs.
I am trying only in general to tell you how much you can see there but to really see you need to visit the Fine Art gallery on my site!
Portraits
The name of this section is self-explanatory, isn’t it?
I have had the great opportunity to work with models as well as families and soon-to-be spouses and help them create memory of certain moment in time.
Sheneta’s kids were just graduating high school. Very important time not only for them, but the whole family, isn’t it. Bright future opening in front of these two young people new experiences, more responsibilities, school far away from home…
Eric needed some pictures for his portfolio, as he was about to start career as a model for kids products. Big tasks were waiting for him! And it was so much fun to help him with getting the needed head-shots as well as few more photographs to save his childhood in family photo album!
Aga i Mirek are married by now, but then the were still during the planning phase of their big wedding day! They are such very nice couple and it was great to photograph them at various outdoor locations in Krakow. We were together looking for spots and using the locations they enjoyed and liked. Now they have memories of the time spend together before the big YES was said during church ceremony. And they also have photographs to keep their memories fresh for years together to come.
There is more to see there. Especially if you are looking for affordable local photographer in Krakow PL to help you save your memories and current moment in life and create some beautiful photo products like prints, photo books or slide show presentations.
Only galleries where the people photographed agreed to have it publicly visible are visible for preview.
Events
In events section the variety of subjects is pretty wide. From a wedding to a rock concert or even preschool graduation and not forgetting about art exhibition and reception! There are moments hard to recreate and at the same time- moments truly worth to be remembered. That’s why I enjoy photographing events, that in few years someone can include in their portfolio or add to their family album. It’s the only way for our life to be remembered and saved. Because just as says Polish poet and the Nobel Prize receipient Wisława Szymborska: “No day copies yesterday, / no two nights will teach what bliss is / in precisely the same way, / with exactly the same kisses.
[highlight_1]This is first post I would like to introduce you with my web presence. There is few sites where my work can be seen or purchased via. There are few sites you can get in touch with me and read about me and my work. I hope you will find this mini series interesting.[/highlight_1]
